Linear Polarization Demosaicking for Monochrome and Colour Polarization Focal Plane Arrays

Division-of-focal-plane (DoFP) polarization image sensors allow for snapshot imaging of linear effects with inexpensive and straightforward setups. However, conventional interpolation based reconstruction methods such produce unreliable noisy estimates quantities as Degree Linear Polarization (DoLP) or Angle (AoLP). In this paper, we propose a demosaicking algorithm by inverting the formation model both monochrome colour DoFP cameras. Compared to previous methods, our approach can significantly reduce noise induced artefacts drastically increase accuracy in estimating states. We evaluate demonstrate performance on new high-resolution dataset. Simulation experimental results show that proposed analysis tools offer an effective solution imaging.
